ElecLink, is a 100% owned subsidiary of Groupe Eurotunnel SE, and is responsible for the project to install a 51km High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) cable – with all 14km of the cable in Kent buried underground.

The company is a TSO (Transmission System Operator) and as a result has Permitted Development Rights for its assets.  However, it adheres to the EU’s TEN-e regulations which are a permitting process for projects of common interest in the UK.

World-class partners

The project brings together world-class infrastructure, engineering and utilities partners.

Siemens is constructing the converter stations in both the UK and France. The fabrication and installation of the HVDC cables inside the Channel Tunnel, and the underground AC cables on the UK side will be undertaken by Balfour Beatty / Prysmian.

RTE, the equivalent of the UK’s National Grid, will undertake the installation of the underground AC cables in France.

ElecLink’s management team

The ElecLink team is led by Chief Executive Officer, Steven Moore. He joined ElecLink in 2015 with more than 20 years commercial experience in the electricity sector, including energy trading, structuring and origination, and asset optimisation.

Prior to joining ElecLink, Steven spent six years with EDF in various senior management positions, including three years in Paris where he was Group Director of commerce, optimisation and trading. Before joining EDF Energy, Steven was a director at British Energy.

The ElecLink team includes engineering, project management, infrastructure, regulation and legal specialists in power trading, utilities and contract administration.
